Twin Six Argyle Cycling Sock - Men's

If you decide to add a pet to your home, you are inevitably going to have to deal with an accident. Here is some practical advice on applying CPR to your flooring.

Dogs and cats can be wonderful companions, but the first time your sock lands in a wet spot on the carpet, you may doubt your decision to bring Fluffy into your home. Even the best housebroken animals can sometimes have accidents. Pet urine, particularly that of cats, can be quite difficult to get off your carpet and furniture. Here are some tips you can try.

If a dog or cat urinates on your carpet, you should assume that the urine has seeped down to the carpet pad unless you were able to catch the animal in the act and clean it up right away. It is important that you treat both the carpet and the pad underneath or you will never get rid of the smell. In order to make sure you get all the urine up, first place a towel over the spot and put a weight on top. Let that sit for about fifteen minutes. Take up the towel and pour a little bit of water on the spot. Place a fresh towel on the spot and set the weight on top. Let this sit for about half an hour. Finally, use white vinegar and water on the spot and place a fresh towel and the weight back on top. Let that sit until the morning. This process should pull up the urine from the carpet and the carpet pad.

The important thing to remember about your pets accident is that you need to get all of the smell out. Not only is it more sanitary, but if your pet can smell the urine, they will continue to mark in the same spot over and over again. You can use several different products to break down the urine smell. There are several commercial products that you could try such as Natures Miracle, Pet Stop, No-Go or Febreeze. Shampooing your carpets frequently is a good idea as well. Many carpet cleaners have a brand of shampoo that is made especially for pet odors.

There are several home remedies as well. Pour baking soda on the spot to absorb much of the urine and the associated odor. Let it sit for about twenty-four hours and then vacuum up. You can try using scoopable kitty litter as well. Listerine in a spray bottle works often works for cat odors. Vinegar and water is also a good, inexpensive choice. You can also try Windex or rubbing alcohol. Remember to test any product on a hidden area of your carpet to make sure that it wont damage your carpet in any way.

When all else fails, call in a professional carpet cleaner. Their machines can usually draw up dirt and odors better than the home machines. The important thing to remember is to clean up spots thoroughly and as quickly as possible so your pet does not try to mark their territory over and over again and compound your problem.

DC Ladies Socks Lally

Athletic sock. 80% cotton, 15% nylon, 5% spandex. Intargia knit logo. fits sizes 9-11

This is the second in the Texas Holdem Strategy Series, focusing on no limit Texas Holdem poker tournament play and associated strategies. In the first installment, we examined a real-world tournament scenario and how to handle a particular class of difficult players the "maniacs", aggressive, wild players that are commonly encountered in todays poker tournament venues.

In this article, well examine the techniques that were used more closely to best these players, along with stitching a Texas Holdem tournament poker strategy together with some good poker tournament fundamentals.

Lets begin with some foundational elements of any winning tournament poker strategy clearly understanding our priorities. In poker tournaments, each player's primary objectives are:

1. Survival first and foremost, surviving to play at the final table, and ideally to be the last surviving player (the winner!) is of paramount importance.

2. Building and Protecting that Chip Arsenal - to survive increasingly large blinds and tougher competition at the latter and final tables, a player must build up and sustain a "chip arsenal" - a substantially large stack of chips - early enough in the competition to be capable of surviving and taking various necessary, calculated risks from time to time.

This must be accomplished without risking the entire tournament and building that chip arsenal in the process. Failure to build an early chip lead is a sure ticket to being eroded away once the blinds and antes increase, chewing away at your stack until youre cornered or dead.

3. Sustained Focus concentrating on your game plan, attacking when the right cards and situations present themselves and converting those opportunities into profits, while avoiding killer momentary lapses of reason (i.e., making occasional mistakes by not paying close enough attention). Focusing like this over an extended period of time is much more difficult than it seems, requiring a constant vigil, self-awareness and self-discipline.

4. Adaptability as the tournament progresses, its critical to recognize when the game dynamics change and quickly adapt to new conditions such as:

Number of players at the table

Style of the players

Size of your chip stack vs. opponents

Odds the pot is giving you, especially as blinds and antes increase

New players arriving that are initially unknown quantities

New table youve been moved to and avoiding mistakes.

Since Texas Holdem tournament events are specifically designed to progressively eliminate players, your foremost objective must be to survive and protect your stack of chips. Taking unnecessary risks is a formula for disaster and an early trip homesomeone can always get lucky against you.

Demonstrating the patience to hold back and attack at the most opportune moments, when the odds favor your success, and with a proper battle plan in mind is critical. While others are visiting and socializing, daydreaming, watching the waitresses, and otherwise taking their eyes off the ball, when youre at a tournament table, its time for your focused attention on the game at hand. This kind of extended attention span becomes increasingly difficult to maintain, so rest up before playing in a tournament do not play when tired if you can avoid it.

I also recommend against alcohol while playing, as it leads to impaired judgment and fatigue.

Here are some basic guidelines to use when playing in poker tournaments or at any table where there are many players that you don't know well:

1. Prepare and Refine your Battle Plan when you enter a tournament, you're going to be fighting a "battle" for survival - against the blinds, the antes, fatigue, as well as against the other players. Would any good military commander go into battle without having first surveyed the battle field, understood the enemy and its tactics, and without having a well-conceived battle plan which takes these facts into account and ensures success? Of course not! If they did, they probably wouldn't live to tell about it.

You shouldn't go into a poker tournament without having completed some pre-planning for the battle ahead either. Think about your plan and several things youll do in each typical situation ahead of time. Refine this once youre at the table as your battlefield unfolds before you.

2. Start out slowly. Be patient. Use the early tournament period, while the blinds are still low, to study everyone at your table, identifying the most likely prey, understanding their habits and play styles. Use this time to mentally prepare and refine your "battle plan" for transferring their chips into your stack. Its best to formulate several strategies during your pre-tournament planning, and then refine each one as you see how the game is actually shaping up, the types of players at your table and how youll approach each situation.

3. Set the Stage play a few ugly hands early, limping in occasionally and feeling your way around the table with the other players while the blinds are still low, playing a few hands you wouldnt normally even consider. This prevents you from starting out with a table image as a solid or tight player; otherwise, you may not get the action youll need when you do get those pocket rockets (AA) and great opportunities later.

4. Know Your Own Table Image - Everyone develops a "table image". Be aware of your own table image, and be careful to mix your game up along the way so that you can't easily be "typed". Once others can predict your behavior and your likely reaction to a given situation, they'll definitely use it against you. For example, if you play mostly premium hands and fold at the first sign of trouble, other players will quickly type you as weak and will steal you blind, taking advantage of that knowledge by representing hands they dont actually have so youll fold. If you project that image, know it, so you can trap them with a good hand make the most of it, since that will definitely destroy your weak table image

In the first article, I let several aggressive players push me around a little early on, then limped in and dropped out on a few draws, so they all thought I was a tight, weak player and a good target for their aggressive style of play. Letting them push me around some, while not losing much to them, conditioned these aggressive players to push me even harder when they absolutely shouldn't have a huge error on their part that I converted into a chip leadership position.

5. Be Careful, Protect Your Stack You must protect your stack and survive until you get some good hands you can use, so be careful to expend that chip depot deliberately and judiciously always with purpose. When a player raises you significantly, you must think: 1) how much of my stack can I afford to invest in this one hand, 2) can I win this hand if I play it fully, and 3) what kind of play will yield me the most chips and give me the best overall odds to win against this particular player.

6. Get a Real Hand and Extract Its Value - don't go up against maniacs and aggressive raisers without a real hand - and definitely, do not challenge them while youre chasing a draw! Their strength is their bravado and wild, aggressive betting style - it's also their biggest weakness. When you do get a real hand that you believe is a winner, you must get the most value for it by extracting as many chips as possible from the other players:

Hit aggressive players head-on, triggering their aggressive response systems, and be willing to stick it out with them, re-raising them all-in if necessary since you know youre likely in top position, or

Trap them with a check-raise play. You can often just let aggressive bettors take the initial lead, betting into you and thereby become pot-committed, leading them to putting many or all of their chips at risk. Thats another reason you'd better have a real hand whenever you challenge the aggressive players they typically just will not fold or back down, and

Bet enough to extract a significant chip profit from the opponents, without forcing them to fold, if youre sure you have the winning hand.

7. Pay Attention and Focus Outwardly - watch everyone and everything that's going on at your table. Don't daydream, and for Petes sake do not focus on your own hand! As a general rule of thumb, spend 3 times as much energy and time trying to determine what other players are holding (especially when youre not in a hand), gauging their play and betting styles, and refining your battle plan - than you do thinking about your own hands and play. You wont be playing that many hands if youre a good poker player, so use this available time wisely.

8. Play the Pot Odds - most people think too much about their own hand and what they might draw next. That's because calculating and playing the pot odds isn't yet second nature to them. If that's you, then you definitely need to get the poker odds ingrained into your subconscious mind, so theyre second nature and you don't even need to think about them while youre playing. Find yourself a good Texas Holdem poker odds calculator, practice with it, and youll learn the odds of drawing each type of hand and find that you dont need to think about them.

9. Bluff for the Pot from Good Positions - as the blinds and antes increase, the size of each hands pot becomes substantial. Bluffing for these pots from proper positions (e.g., acting late with a big bet, acting first with a semi-bluff hand and bigger bet) is a good way to hold your own while everyone else struggles against the blinds.

10. Play the Player the key to winning in poker is to get other players to make the wrong play, which you then profit from. To do this, knowing your opponents, understanding what kinds of hands they play, whether theyll fold when bluffed, and knowing when its time to lay down your hand to simply survive and play another is crucial.

The alternative is to do what many players do - just leave most everything to chance and play the game in a random, unpredictable fashion with whatever hands youre dealt; a.k.a. gambling.

They say "those who fail to plan, plan to fail", and that hope is not a strategy a couple of my favorite sayings that come to mindhave a plan, and execute it.

You must be prepared to mix up your play enough that players aren't sure what to expect from you. It's helpful to "shift gears" from one mode of operation to another from time to time. It's also recommended to play the opposite from everyone at the table; e.g., if most everyone is playing tight overall, then loosen up your play and take advantage of them by overplaying some hands, going on some draws, and a few semi-bluffs. If the table becomes loose, tighten up and attack with a good hand or trap them.

Remember, aggressive players' egos usually can't handle being overtly raised or publicly challenged. They expect to be the preeminent raisers and dominate the game, so they'll often re-raise or go all-in in order to leverage their aggressive position against you. Be ready! You can just about count on it. When they push you at the wrong time, sock it to em! You can use these types of players to build up your chip arsenal and possibly earn yourself a seat at the final table.

There arent any absolutes in no-limit Texas Holdem tournament strategy, which is one of the things that make it so entertaining and challenging. These are just a few good tips and techniques that will help you get started and do reasonably well against some good players and some aggressive ones.

Finally, it's been said "if you can't spot the sucker at your table, it's probably you!" I love this saying, because it's so true. If you do your pre-planning and have confidence in your game plan, along with an ability to observe the opponents and apply the proper techniques against different kinds of players, youll go far in Texas Holdem poker tournaments.

So, there's your first set of Texas Holdem poker tournament strategies. I sure wish someone had condensed things down like this for me when I first started playing. It wouldve saved me years of learning it the hard way. Enjoy.

Good luck!

For those who study weather on a daily basis, movement of air masses is at the heart of most changes in weather conditions. These huge areas of warm air or cold air (weather fronts) move up or down in the atmosphere, as well as horizontally, sometimes covering hundreds of miles in a short time. The sun does not heat the atmosphere on a consistent basis. Variations in temperature occur, depending on the location. The large masses of air move about, part of nature's attempt to maintain balance.

But it is not just the movement of a single air mass that is key in determining the type of weather we experience. Instead, the confrontation between two masses of air often cause significant changes in conditions. A mass of air moving into a particular region will encounter another mass. The area where these two air masses meet, where the conflict occurs, is commonly called a front.

For general weather watching purposes, when a cold air mass moves in and attempts to replace a warmer mass, meteorologists and weather watchers call it a cold front. When the moving air mass is warm and it meets a cold air mass, the area of contact is called a warm front.

However, movement of these huge areas of air is not limited to straight-line, horizontal activity. A warm mass encountering a colder section of air will ride over the top of the cooler mass, causing clouds to be formed through condensation. Essentially, the difference in temperature between the two air masses triggers a reaction in the water vapor of the masses. Most of the time, an observer of this activity will see cirrus clouds high in the atmosphere, with clouds forming at a slightly lower level later. Heavy stratus clouds appear, generally producing precipitation and windy conditions.

Over long periods of time, there is some consistent frontal activity, which produces the various climate conditions found around the world. Scientists have learned that weather changes produced by a cold front will often be more volatile than the activity caused by a warmer mass of air. A cold front meeting a warm air mass forces the warmer up, quickly. This movement results in unstable conditions and convection. Massive cumulus clouds will result, with storms forming along the boundary between the two masses of air. In addition, the rising air produces a low-pressure area, with stronger winds resulting. Most of the time area residents will experience heavy rain. Precipitation tends to linger after the passage of this frontal activity.

Less common but still of interest is the overtaking of a slow-moving warm front by a cold air mass. The warm air is pushed to a higher elevation but the air masses continue to travel together. This front between two air masses, one above another, is known as an occluded front, which usually have stratus clouds and some rain as companions.

While displacement of one air mass by another is quite common, sometimes these two sections of the atmosphere have the same strength. When one cannot replace the other, meteorologists and weather watchers see a stationary front. Extended periods of cloudiness and precipitation are the features of this unique climate condition

Why do you think you are here on this earth? Do you know your own responsibilities to yourself and to others? What is your real purpose in this world? These are simple questions that almost all us take for granted. Most people are busy working in the thick of their thin daily tasks. Businesspeople are lost in spreadsheets, meetings, and bottom lines. So many students are immersed in the tasks surrounding earning the highest grade that they can.

But what is the real purpose behind this blizzard of action? Many people dont know the real reason of their existence. All they know is the demand of the external world that they work for their own survival but living in this world does not only focus on working and earning. There are many more important objects than that. And that is the very reason why it is important for you to know the real purpose of your existence.

You are created with a responsibility at your hand, not only to yourself but also for other people. Remember that you are not living only for yourself. Many people need you. You should know that you are an important being that needs to be loved, respected and protected, but you are also responsible for other peoples feelings and emotions.

You have the responsibility to love them, to respect them, and to protect them in return. You should not only think that working for your love ones is enough. It is not. Providing them money for their needs is important, but it does not mean that it is enough if you truly love them. Material things are not the basis for love, but love is shown by how you respect, appreciate and protect them.

You should know the purpose of your existence. In this way you have all the reasons to move forward. Life here on earth is meaningless unless you discover your real purpose. You should remember that you need other people and they need you in return. You should take responsibility to love, respect and protect them in any way that you can. You should live life within your purpose. A person who does not know the reason of his existence is a person who is living without life. Know your purpose and your responsibilities and take some actions on accomplishing them.

Hurricane forecasting is heavily reliant on computer models. There are many different forecasts available which are built on different

mathematical equations. Because of this, hurricane track and intensity forecasts will differ. One must know which of the hurricane forecast models is performing the best.

Hurricane forecasts are dependent on available observational data. Unfortunately, over the tropics, data is sparse. Sometimes a hurricane will seem to weaken when this was not the forecast. This can be attributed to "unseen" wind shear. The forecasts can be only as accurate as the data will allow.

Good hurricane forecasters know how to interpret all of the tools at their disposal. This includes visible, infer red, and water vapor satellite imagery. It is essential to be able to correctly analyze wind flow patterns at low, middle, and high levels. Satellite derived winds are also very useful. Buoy data, ship reports, radar imagery and Hurricane Hunter information are also extremely important to interpret correctly.

It is also not wise to jump on a forecast model that deviates significantly from previous forecasts. Watch for trends in the forecast track. Also, do not focus on the forecast track many days in the future. The farther out in time, the greater the average forecast error. Any correct forecast based on a track one week or more in the future would require a great deal of luck.

Hurricane intensity forecasts are less understood than hurricane track forecasts. Sometimes hurricanes deepen or strengthen very rapidly. This process is not well understood yet, but likely occurs when a combination of synoptic and meso-scale features both favor an increase in strength. This rapid deepening usually occurs in the deep tropics where the wind shear is low and outflow high in the atmosphere is very strong.

In recent years the media has obtained hurricane forecast information without forecasters trained in proper interpretation. This has led to the improper dissemination of information to the public. The most important aspect in hurricane forecasting is experience. Nothing can replace lessons learned after many years studying the eccentricities of hurricanes.

In summary, hurricane forecasters should be experienced and know how to correctly use the tools available to them. Forecasting is also an art. A good hurricane forecaster must know how to assimilate the intangibles.

December 1, 2007 marks the end of another hurricane season in south Florida, and for the second year in a row we are blessed with a clean getaway. For now, we can exhale.

Yet more than two years after hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, it's anything but easy in the Big Easy.

In August this year I took a vacation to Cancn, Mexico. The Yucatan peninsula is a locale I adore and have visited extensively before. But having lived in Florida for the past three years and having been through three hurricanes during that time, I had more than a fleeting sense of trepidation over the state in which I'd find my beloved Mexican Caribbean jewel. Recalling the damage an unexpectedly fierce hurricane Wilma did to south Florida in just a few hours on a late October 2005 day after ravaging Cancn for four times as long, I was prepared to see evidence of recovery still in progress. Prepared, at least, to spot more than a few blemishes on the face of the normally pristine hotel zone, and certainly prepared to see the aftereffects of the storm in the outlying, natural environment.

My expectations couldn't have been more off. Judging by the looks of things in Cancn, you'd never know there was a Hurricane Wilma which came on shore less than two years ago as a category four storm with winds exceeding 150 miles an hour. Between October 20 and 24, 2005 Wilma dumped over five feet of rain on Cancn, double or triple the amount that Hurricane Katrina unleashed on New Orleans only seven weeks earlier. While both storms peaked as category five hurricanes while over water, Wilma came ashore with greater force, and stayed much longer, than Katrina when it made landfall. Where Katrina hit New Orleans, it was a weak category three, if not a category two. Yet we've all seen the images of what happened in New Orleans and environs.

How then, do you account for the drastic differences in both the level of devastation and recovery between the two cities, each hit by major hurricanes within the same sixty days? In digging for the answers to this question, there is much to be gleaned about the economic and political agendas of two North American neighbors, Mexico and the United States, and a critical lesson for Americans to learn as well.

As cities New Orleans and Cancn have little in common. The former is a historically-quaint, centuries-old settlement that has grown large in a sinking land bowl flanked by the mighty Mississippi river to the south and Lake Pontchartrain to the north; the latter, a merely forty-year, newly developed world-class vacation destination built primarily on a narrow eight mile strip of land bordered by a natural lagoon to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east. What they share other than their sea-level elevation is that they're both hemmed in by water. Furthermore, both cities have a history of hurricanes, know they are situated in hurricane zones, and know the risks. But of the two only only Cancn has chosen to consciously act on that knowledge, both preventatively and retroactively.

One could argue Cancn has had a decided advantage over a place like New Orleans all along. Its development is recent enough to have benefitted from hurricane-resistant technology and forethought, and clearly it has done so. Yet since before Cancn was officially established as a city in 1972, the pummeling New Orleans received by Hurricane Betsy in 1965 served as an alarming wake-up call. Arguably, New Orleans had forty years to fortify itself against a repeat performance, and countless government mandates and funds with which to work, yet the system of dikes and levees surrounding the city - its primary defense against flooding during a major storm - failed miserably.

With two years of Hurricane Katrina post-mortem under our belts, most Americans now understand the resulting devastation of New Orleans was a man-made rather than natural disaster. After 1965, the US Congress assigned the Army Corps of Engineers to protect the city from a "100-year storm". The resulting planning and work done by the Corps was riddled with engineering errors and utterly sub-standard for protection from anything more than a moderate-strength hurricane. The Corps' estimation of a 100-year event fell short of a category four hurricane, even though Betsy had been exactly that and was originally predicted to arrive even stronger.

Moreover, protecting the city from a major storm was never anyone's top priority. Tales of local government corruption, funds misappropriation, and even failed local ballot propositions are legendary. And with every passing decade, as the city was spared further hurricanes, the people became more complacent and their sense of denial grew. Denial, as they now know, will no more fortify levees or prevent flooding than wishful thinking. Hurricane survival requires preparation, and preparation means intentional efforts are made in building construction, land use, water management, and population education.

More telling than the difference in the collective mindsets of Cancn and New Orleans is their respective recovery efforts. While most major hotel/resort structures in Cancn were already designed to withstand major hurricane damage (and those in New Orleans were not) the greater area of concern to Cancn was not loss or damage to structures, but to the beach, the primary tourist draw on which its economy depends. After Hurricane Wilma washed away eight miles of Cancn's beautiful beach, the Mexican government paid $24 million to a Belgian firm to vacuum up offshore sand roughly 20 miles off the coast and pump it back to resort-front beaches. The result? Cancn's beach front is now roughly twice as wide as it was before the storm. Imagine, then, if New Orleans had received the type of immediate, hands-on, no-holds-barred infusion of support that the Mexican government showered upon just Cancn's beaches alone.

Roughly $2.3 billion in insurance claims in Cancun were filed in the aftermath of Wilma, but many hotel and resort owners took the opportunity to go upgrade the quality of their rebuilt properties by adding condos, thereby expanding their mix of accommodations while planning for future growth. Many single family homes in Mexico are also built quite differently than in the US - with metal-reinforced concrete rather than wood frames - and survived Wilma with minimal or no damage.

By contrast, stories of under-or inadequately insured homes and properties in New Orleans are legendary. Many homeowners did not carry flood insurance, necessary when water damage occurs from rising rather than falling water. (Hurricane insurance only covers wind damage). Adding insult to injury, many of the most seriously damaged neighborhoods in New Orleans were occupied by either the poorest or oldest of the city's population. Both groups are notorious for having not been insured at all, and as a result have nothing to go back to. At last count, only about 52% of New Orleans' pre-Katrina population of 450,000 has returned. Neighborhoods such as the Lower Ninth Ward and parts of New Orleans East are still nearly vacant.

So, what insights does this comparison yield? A few become obvious:

1. Money first, people second. Governments are most concerned with protecting their economic interests, and the US is no exception. Whether disaster is natural or man-made, when government protects its cash cows or wealthiest citizens, it does so in the name of protecting its own economic health. The poor, uneducated, uninformed, or underprivileged often find themselves on their own.

2. Do not expect your government to save you when disaster strikes. It may provide aid but its resources are limited and it simply cannot save everyone. If you live in a disaster-susceptible area, don't expect a bail-out. Even if you don't live in a high-risk area, self-reliance is a virtue you CAN afford and won't regret having when you need it.

3. Our government is what we make it. The citizens of New Orleans elected their state and local officials. They had numerous opportunities to vote on how to spend funds and sadly, the majority chose not to spend resources on hurricane prevention and flood protection. "We reap what we sow" may sound trite, but it's true.

All too often it seems dire circumstances are required for behavioral change. As I have learned firsthand from living in Florida, there are two sides to every coin. Paradise? Certainly, but at a price, one I and millions of south Floridians are now painfully aware of and willing to pay, as I suspect are the nearly one million full-time inhabitants of Cancun. Yet we're lucky, Florida and Cancun reap enough tourism riches to qualify for government rescue. If only the citizens of New Orleans had been so fortunate, and so enlightened.

Charter Club Bandless Trouser Socks

It seems to me that New Years Resolutions are a lot about just hoping it
happens.
Everyone talks about them from say Dec 21st-ish until about January
10th ish and then everyone goes back to doing what theyve been doing. Sound
familiar? Be honest. The reason change doesnt happen is we dont have a strategy
for creating the change. This is a set-up for sabotage in my opinion.

For a long time I wrote out my resolutions every year, but it never really worked
for me.
. I wasnt really jazzed by my resolutions. Honestly, I usually felt like a
big, fat, failure Oh, these things again exactly what I couldnt get done last
year. I never really looked at them; they sorda bothered me probably because they
seemed like obligations rather than exciting desires.

Then I was introduced to the idea of creating a 1 year vision instead of
making resolutions.
This visioning wasnt just about shoulds, but about what
I really WANTED. (I think I was a little afraid to make that claim in the past). It was a
holistic way of looking at what I wanted my career, family, friends, health,
personal time and money desires. I started to get it all of it works together. Each
area isnt independent; if one area suffers the whole picture (which I realized was
my life) was being affected in some way.

The best thing about ENVISIONING the year was that to see it, I had to FEEL
it.
Whoa. I noticed that I wasnt really giving myself much credit for what I
could actually get done in a year. I was locked into a yearly routine that I had been
living out for a long time. But having to create a vision of what the year would look
like allowed me to start to GO BIG. Seasonal sections dropped and my energy un-
blocked. My creative side started going crazy and I really took the time to SEE.

The 1 year vision was a way for me to tap into what I REALLY wanted. My
heart beats a little faster after I read it and I feel a tingle in my stomach. Now THAT
is energy that my yearly list of resolutions cant create. (By the way, my vision stays
with me more on a daily basis because of this feeling, rather than just sitting in my
sock drawer.)

Another trick I use is I write it in the present tense... same day, one year
later. For this year my 1 year vision read 2007 and as I read it back to myself I was
reading about all the things Id ALREADY accomplished in my career, my new
marriage, my family, my friends, my money over the past year (which of course
havent actually happened yet).

Try it and really FEEL what it is like when you read it back to yourself. It is
a great step to beginning to align your heart, your head and your body it is a pull
into action. It is also about building a bridge of trust; that you do know what you
want and how to go about getting it.

Customer Review: Caveat Emptor
I bought these socks as a present for my boyfriend. These socks come "assorted" though not all vendors tell you this ... what this means is that they come in a variety of color combinations and what is pictured is not necessarily what you are going to get. I wanted more subtle colors such as maroon/grey/black or just grey and black and what I received were bright purple/brown/black. I tried to re-order them in the specific colors I wanted from other retailers but had no luck. I ended up showing them to my boyfriend and to my surprise he really liked them, even though the colors were funky. He has other pairs of Volcom argyle socks and these were dressier and thinner than his other pairs so these he will use for work and the others for "play".

When I played guitar in the 50's and 60's, I was limited by having small hands. There were certain tunes I could just not stretch to play. In those days a guitarist had to spend a couple thousand dollars for a custom made git with a short neck or resign themselves to a limited song list. That's not the case today!

Back in the day we had a pretty successful local band. We played all the "sock hops" and even made a nice living playing road gigs in the tri-state area of Ohio, New York, and Pennsylvania under the names of "The Crazy Tones" and "The Challets". I mainly played rhythm guitar and, on occasion, I played keyboard on certain songs. One thing I never played and never learned was lead guitar, the ultimate goal for all guitar players I think.

Well, I retired recently and decided to revisit my love of guitar playing. I began a search for a guitar that offered a nice price and good quality. I bid on a few on eBay but quickly found the bids to be almost as high as buying locally when you consider Shipping and Handling. I scoured local music stores but found nothing that fit me comfortably, that was at a fair price. I had no idea how much guitar prices have gone up over the years and how much quality has suffered for a low end guitar. Even good used guitars were few and far between. But, I kept looking.

In the process I discovered two manufacturers of short neck guitars. I thought - "These must be for kids and girls." But, once I looked over the specifications I realized they were not the guitars sold by toy stores at all. These were versions of full size guitars that are downsized for small adults with small hands and, yes, even for the aspiring lady pickers and teens.

My number one concern, of course, was quality of craftsmanship and sound quality. The price was a surprise. More about that in a moment.

I looked at the Fender Squire and the Ibanez Mikro. The Fender, frankly, got poor ratings from musicians and from newbies. The Ibanez, on the other hands, scored a 90% satisfactory rating among the same group. Based on that, I bought the Ibanez Mikro for under $130.00 including Free Shipping and Handling. I have not been disappointed.

I now play tunes that were almost impossible and I play them comfortably. The quality? The sound? I give this git a 100% positive rating!

The main concern of all physicians is to start an antibiotic administration as soon as possible to avoid eventual complications and to prevent the patients from spreading the bacteria to healthy subjects. This approach is in many cases wrong, as you cannot be certain that the streptococcus is to blame for the sore throat until a test swab or a bacterial culture is performed. An unnecessary ant biotherapy could harm the body as it increases the resistance to drugs and may lead to damages due to the chemotherapeutics.

In case of a viral infection, the patient will no longer be contagious when the fever has past one or two days earlier. But for the streptococcus infection, the child is usually able to transmit the disease to others for about three weeks if not treated with antibiotics. Treated patients are considered uncontagious after about 24 hours of antibiotic care when the bacteria are believed to be annihilated by the chemo. Antibiotics are only useful in preventing complications and spreading, but will not decrease the sickness period.

In cases of streptococcus infection inside the family, the parents will like to know how to make sure it does not infect healthy members and also how it can be prevented from reoccurring. Firstly, the toothbrush the child uses must be replaced during treatment with antibiotics and when the therapy is completed, it must be again changed to avoid bacteria from hiding and then re-infecting the patient.

All other dental appliances must be cleaned well daily during the ant biotherapy, especially during the first two days. Having been in contact with the sick family member does not necessarily mean you have also contacted the infection and need to be tested or take antibiotics. Only members that show signs of a streptococcus condition must start treatment as soon as possible without further testing to be required; it is most likely that he has contacted the bacteria from the sock relative.

The most common complication of an untreated streptococcus infection is the rheumatic fever due to an abnormal interaction between the immune system and the bacteria. The microbes are believed to combine with the antibodies and the formed complex can affect the cardiac valves, joints, skin and other parts of the body. Serious symptoms like chest pain, joint aches, difficult breathing or red swollen points on the skin, may occur after several weeks of untreated strep infection and a doctor must be seen immediately.

The second serious damage of streptococcus is glomerulonephritis, the inflammation of the kidneys also caused by antibody-bacteria complexes. It causes kidney failure and blood within urine after a few weeks of infection. Main symptoms are a decreased urine volume, dark colored urine and swelling of the face, feet and ankles.

The occurrence of rheumatic fever can be stopped by antibiotics; glomerulonephritis however cannot. The patients luck is it occurs very rare.

You cannot love anyone else until you love yourself first. If you are feeling down or frustrated with yourself for any reason, try to determine what it will take to change those thoughts. It could be just as simple as a new makeover or a weekend away with your friends. If you have been feeling bad about yourself for a long time, it might be something deeper that is preventing you from accepting or giving love. Here are some ways to stop pushing people away and getting the love you deserve.

Your confidence level and self esteem will play a huge role with your intimate relationships. A poor self image or low self esteem will lead to constant self doubt. Write down three things each day that you like about yourself. Ask friends to send you things they like about you via email, phone, snail mail or whatever. Write them all down in one place and make a note every time someone compliments you. Put them all in a nicely decorated container and pull out the pieces of paper whenever you feel like throwing a pity party for yourself.

Use affirmations such as "I am beautiful inside and out and deserve to be loved."
Put those positive thoughts in places where you'll be sure to see them everyday such as the bathroom mirror, your favorite book, or next to the remote control. If you don't feel comfortable leaving them out for others to view, put them in your underwear or sock drawer, planner or journal as a book mark. Write down negative thoughts in your head and think about who said them to you. Try to write back counter messages to each one and you should feel better in no time. Don't be so critical and hard on yourself. Have compassion for yourself and where you're at in life. You should be own your best friend.

Twin Six Argyle Wool Cycling Sock - Men's

For us cats there are several sweet advantages in having a human as a pet. However, remember you are taking on a big responsibility when you adopt one or more humans. Humans are demanding pets that need daily care and attention.

With responsibility come both advantages and disadvantages. If you adopt a human, you must get used to spending time at home. Your human does not deal well with being left alone - they will get into all sorts of mischief. For example, if you are gone just two or three days you run the risk of seeing posters put up all over the neighborhood. Your human will put out an APB on you ! Often with an embarrassing text that reveals all sorts of personal details - and usually accompanied by an unflattering photo of you - with morning fur and crumpled whiskers. Exactly the kind of thing that attracts ridicule from all the neighbor cats.

So please consider carefully if you are ready for a life with humans. In addition, remember humans generally grow very old, so there is a big chance that you will spend the rest of your life with your human.

Entertaining your Human
The litter box provides a great opportunity for entertaining your human. Naturally there is all the fun your human can have cleaning and scooping out the box. A lot of human time can also be used getting fresh litter - going to the pet store, transporting it home etc. However many humans like new challenges. Utilize your litter box time in the best possible way. Make interesting and artistic renderings of countries or well-known islands. Your human will have lots of fun guessing which one you made. Humans like game shows - so this should be a popular activity. When your human increases in skill, you can also make portraits of family and friends. Start with profile portraits - this will make it easer for your human.

Shedding
Make it a priority to shed indoors on appropriate surfaces. Fleece is a particularly suitable material to shred on. All you need to do is pass close by your human when he or she is wearing fleece. All cat hair within a radius of 2 feet from the fabric will immediately be transferred to your human. No brushing necessary for several days ! Another good solution is to get access to a filled clothes hamper. Jump in and give all contents a good work over. An extra bonus with this method is that most cat hairs will survive a trip to the washing machine. Your human will be stylishly accessorized with cat hair on all outfits.

Extra Food
All chances for a bit of extra food must and should be taken advantage of. Whenever your human is in the kitchen, you have a prime opportunity of getting an extra snack. When your human is busy at the kitchen counter place yourself in your humans blind angle (just behind the ankle is usually a good spot). And the second your human moves one or both feet you jump back screaming your most heart-wrenching cry. Your human will automatically assume that he/she stepped on you. When your human looks back scared to see what is happening look up at him/her with a painful expression on your face (practice this before hand in front of a mirror). Your human's bad conscience will often result an edible apology.

Grass Etiquette
Before you eat grass, make sure that you are close to a suitable place to throw up. Delicate furniture fabrics, precious carpets, and shoes are all good places. If you choose furniture: aim for the part that has non-removable fabric. When you are getting down to business, make sure you back up a step or two so that you cover the largest area possible. Another technique is to do several items with pauses in-between. Persian carpets will give a good camouflage effect and your little gift will often not be discovered until somebody steps in it.

Preventing your human from wasting valuable time
One of the most important tasks we cats have is to prevent humans from wasting their time. Humans love to spend their time on things with no relevance for cats. For example watching TV, reading, talking on the phone - and many other things that have no entertainment value for us cats what so ever. Many methods are available to prevent human time waste - use your imagination. Some especially effective techniques will be mentioned here.

Watching TV; make sure that you always position yourself between the TV and your human. On the coffee table for example. You can also lie on the TV and let you tail or paws swing down in front of the screen. This method is most effective with small screens where you can cover a large percentage of the screen. It is a bit trickier with a flat screen - and only recommended for the agile kitty. A variation can be used with a computer screen. Flat screens often leave a lot of empty space on the desk - so just get up in front - remind your human of how wonderful you are.
Cleaning; stalk the vacuum cleaner and attack when it passes by. You can also pretend that you want to attack the vacuum cleaner but "accidentally" catch a foot instead.
Garden work; jump repeatedly up-and-down and scatter any leaves that your human has raked together. Attack gardening tools - especially while they are in use. Immediately dig up any newly planted seeds, plants and flowers.

Closed Doors
Under no circumstances accept closed doors that separate you from your human. At all times you have a right to know what your human is doing. If by accident you have been placed on the wrong side of a door you need to make your human aware of this ASAP so he/she can remedy the situation immediately. Loud meows and scratching on the door should be sufficient to get your humans attention. If this is ignored you need to take more drastic measures: Make a sound as if you are going to throw up. All humans in a 50 feet radius can hear this sound. This sound can also be heard through closed doors. The "puke sound" will always result in your human's immediate presence.

Sleeping Time
It is important for us cats to prioritize our sleeping time. The objective is to get as much sleep done as possible while your human is awake. You will then be especially well rested and bushy-tailed at night when it is your job to keep your human awake. There is the classical "play with toes" approach: attack everything that moves under the duvet. You can also reenact highlights from last year's Grand National Steeplechase by repeatedly galloping across the bed. A couple of loud meows will give it an extra exiting dimension for your human

Houseguests
Houseguests require special attention and handling. The following procedures should be followed:
Houseguests that either do not like us or are allergic to us: As soon as they sit down - jump onto their lap.
Noisy children that run after you and/or pull your tail: It is your duty to punish them - it can be necessary to use both claws and teeth. However, be prepared that this can result in noise that is even more annoying and of an even louder decibel level.
Guests that try to get in contact with you by ingratiating themselves and speaking in a sweet voice: Should just be ignored. If they try to approach you, back away 5-6 feet but never further away than they feel encouraged to try again. With a bit of practice this game can he kept going for hours.

Bad Weather
Even in bad weather, it can be necessary to go outside. The rain and wet ground will result in an unpleasant layer of dirt and mud on your paws. However, this can easily be dried off on certain appropriate indoor spots. Find a light carpet, a duvet cover or nice piece of furniture and walk over it a couple of times. When your paw tracks are almost invisible, your paws are clean and you are ready to go outside again.

Training your Human
Sometimes it can be necessary to discipline even the most well trained human. However, do remember never to hit a human. At the most, mark with a soft paw on the human's arm or hands. Try first to make your human understand what it has done wrong. And most importantly: be patient! The human intellect is relatively limited and it can be difficult for them to understand our wishes and needs.

Even after approximately 5000 years of domestication, the human species still has primitive instincts and it does take time to train your human completely.

Door Training
One of the first things you need to teach your human is to open the front door, the garden door and backdoor when required. This is done by walking up to a door and making an impatient and very loud meow. Make some tripping steps with your back paws obviously indicating that you need to go to the outdoor litter box. When your human has gotten up from the couch and opened the door you decide that you do not really need to go outside right now. Just for appearances, you can stand in the open door and pretend that you are thinking about the situation for a few seconds before you turn around to go inside again. Repeat this procedure several times a day. This will keep your human in good door opening form.

Inspection of the House
A house usually has unlimited possibilities for suitable sleeping spots. Every possibility no matter how theoretical should be investigated and tested. Cardboard boxes, cupboards, drawers, couches and beds are obvious localities, but places such as old slippers (size 11 or higher) open gym bags or kitchen cupboards should not be overlooked.
The house should further be investigated for all possible toys. An old sock can represent several hours of entertainment if you get your claw on a loose end and unravel a couple of miles worth of yarn. You human will love to tidy up after your play.

Alien Workshop Mens Socks Archangel Crew

Long knit socks with logo on bottom of foot.

In another article we took a look at one of the latest styles of boots being sold by Ugg Australia and which was likely to be very popular with women around the globe. In fact the Ugg Classic Cardy boots have proved so popular that the company have sold out of them, and new pairs not now being available until January 2008.

Yet if like many women you really would like to own a pair of these boots then there are a number of things that you may want to try. Below we offer you some ideas which could help you to get a pair of Ugg Classic Cardy boots without actually having to wait until they become available through Ugg Australia next year.

When it comes to getting a pair of these boots a great place to go is online and to the eBay auction site. There are numerous listings of these boots for sale here but we careful and make sure what you are considering purchasing is the genuine article.

The best way of making sure that the pair you want to bid on or to buy now are genuine is to read through the sellers description along with photos they have posted. If they are the genuine article then the following details should be listed against them. 1. The boots have been made using a mix of wool with polyester. 2. They have a suede heel guard which provides protection and strength to this part of the boot. 3. They have three large wooden buttons on the outside of each boot. 4. The sock lining of the boot is made from real sheepskin. 5. The soles of these boots are made from molded EVA which is both light and flexible.

Although there are plenty of boots for sale on eBay that purport to be the genuine article, some are not. In fact what you will find that to get a real pair of the Ugg Classic Cardy boot now you are going to have to pay a premium for them.

Another alternative if you can not afford the prices that are now being asked for these boots is to get a pair of Ugg Classic Crochet ones instead. They are very similar in design and looks to the Classic Cardy the only real difference between them is that these ones do not have the large wooden buttons down the outside.

But if you are able to find a seamstress or tailor who you feel has the skills to do so, then they may be able to sew on three wooden buttons to the Ugg Classic Crochet for you. Yet these boots look great just the way they are.

Certainly since writing the first article on the Ugg Classic Cardy boot it has proved itself to be very popular like many of the other styles of Ugg boots already available. Yet if you are someone who is keen to own a pair of these must have boots then the ideas we have provided above should hopefully help you in getting what you want.

As you see above it is still possible to get the Ugg Classic Cardy. To see what is available on eBay visit our up to the minute Classic Cardy availability guide. Click here for the full range of Ugg Classic Crochet boots.

Keep your socks on

Spring is a time when the energy shifts and all beings and plants wake up from winter hibernation and a new cycle of life begins. Take advantage of this energy shift and let it boost your own renewal at all levels of your being.

By becoming aware of your existence at all levels, from the physical to the spiritual you are able to do spring cleaning in a truly holistic way.

Health is so much about keeping the flow going, whether it is in your closet, digestive tract or the thoughts you think. The input must be balanced with equal output, or there is congestion and stagnation, which spells trouble.

Here a few easy tips to get you going with spring cleaning at various levels of your life. Try one, a few or all of them, depending on what you feel you need right now.

1. De-clutter Your Physical Space

Spring cleaning is that traditional cleaning where every corner is swept, windows washed, walls dusted and carpets whipped. I am not sure many have the time to do such a thorough cleaning anymore... but it is not "all or nothing", capture the energy of "sweeping the winter out", and do small spaces in your home, like a cupboard, sock drawer or a closet. An organized living space is calming.

2. De-clutter Your Schedule

Being over and double booked is exhausting! Take a close look at the activities you are committing to and be sure that they really ad value to your life, especially before renewing or recommitting to an activity. If you have kids, this also goes for their activities.

3. Clean Out Your Physical Body

In traditional cultures spring and fall are times when cleansing is done. It seems our bodies naturally begin cleansing at these "change of season" times. Your body's attempt at cleaning out may manifest as a cold, which is really just natures way of detoxing.

Why not beat "yourself" to it and do a detox that is more pleasant than having a cold. Dedicate 1-14 days to eating a diet that is extra "clean" consisting of lots of veggies, quality protein and water. Avoid sugar, processed food, alcohol and refined grains. To stimulate a deeper cleanse you can also take an herbal detox kit, like Wild Rose or Heel.

If your lifestyle doesn't allow you to detox for several days, try a one day juice fast. Be sure to do it on a day when you can relax and take it easy.

4. Tune Your Organs of Elimination

Your organs of elimination are where your "garbage" in handled or exits, and include your bowel, kidneys, lungs, skin and liver. Give yourself a tune up, just like you give your car a tune up periodically for future good performance.

My favorite way of doing this is with drainage remedies. Drainage remedies are low potency (low dilution) formulas from a selected blend of plants and minerals that targets the various organs of elimination. Ask your natural health practitioner to help you with drainage.

5. De-clutter Your Mind

The physical clutter in your environment may pale in comparison to the constant stream of thoughts, relevant or not, that race through your mind. To get a break from this flow, begin by becoming aware of your thoughts, pretend to be an outside observer.

Set aside a few moments every day, they don't have to be long, where you can consciously quiet your "internal voice" and just follow the rhythm of your breath. This will clean your inner space, slow your breathing, lower your blood pressure and raise your awareness.

For more natural ways to boost your health and well being I invite you to get a complimentary copy of my special report "Your Individual Diet - Eating for More Energy, Better Sleep & Clearer Thinking? It will guide you towards a personalized diet in a few easy steps. Just go to http://www.AnnikaEk.com and get your copy now!

Gold Toe Women's Casual Crew Sock, 3-Pack

Customer Review: Nice socks, and worth the price
I usually buy my black socks from my favorite discount department store, but they always get holes in the toes. I finally decided enough was enough, so I paid a bit more to get these Gold Toe socks. They're worth the price -- very high quality and will last a long time. They also keep their shape and don't sag or stretch out after many uses.
Customer Review: Gold Toe Socks
Great socks! Never understood buying expensive socks until wearing my husband's gold toe socks. Had bought them for him since they have the bigger socks for a size 13. Used them for my boots & fell in love! Well worth the money! They don't cut into your legs & they don't squash your toes!

There are many different types of remedy options for snoring issues. Some of them are more practical while still others are very advanced and complex in nature. If you are a believer in the remedies of your grandmother's era or your prefer the wonders of todays' medicine, you will find that there lots of accepted remedies for stopping your snoring.

The most often recommended do-it-yourself cures for snoring are to lose weight and change the position in which you sleep. Sleeping on your back actually causes the soft palate to relax, no longer obstructing the airway that leads to snoring.

By training yourself to sleep on your side, you can probably stop your snoring. Use an idea from way back in the day, of using a tennis ball. Place a tennis ball into a sock and fasten it to your
pajamas, it will be uncomfortable to sleep. Your natural response will be to turn from your side rather than sleep on the tennis ball. In time, it is believed that you will have a natural tendency to sleep on your side rather than on your back and you will no longer need the tennis ball.

Some more home cures for snoring are raising your bed at the head about four inches. This can be done pretty easily if you rolled up towels and place them below the mattress. This is believed to make breathing easier in addition to forcing your tongue and jaw slightly forward.

If you are a smoker, you will want to quit - or do try to cut back on the amount you smoke each day. You should also limit your exposure to second-hand smoke. In some lines of work, this is more difficult than others. If you exposed yourself to less smoke or less second-hand smoke, you will find that your snoring has decreased.

Of course, not everyone has the same faith in home remedies - and some have a different or more severe cause for their snoring. There is no natural cure where one size fits all (if that were the case there would not be so many home remedies).

Nasal strips are another option that has become popular, if you are set on treating your own snoring problems or you need to really stop your partner's snoring. Along with the nasal strips, you can spray the throat with another snoring product. Try the two products before deciding to give up altogether.

If these things are not working for your snoring problems or those of your partner, you have a more serious problem - such as sleep apnea. A doctor might recommend you use oral appliances and face masks to help with your snoring problem and other related issues.

If your problem is sleep apnea, you should make an appointment immediately for medical help. Snoring could be a serious illness and if you are smart you won't want to neglect this problem to long. Snoring does not have to be the reason your social life is out of whack or your significant other has move to the room down the hall.

You can fight the results of snoring if you make the effort.

"Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent." (Marlene Savant)

"Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards." (Chinese Proverb)

"Failure is a prerequisite for great success. If you want to succeed faster, double your rate of failure." (Brian Tracy)

"Fall seven times, stand up eight." (Japanese Proverb)

When high expectations are not fulfilled we so easily go down the path of disappointment. Sometimes it's enough to stop us dead in our tracks - for a while.

I say 'for a while' because if we have a clear vision of the future we are wanting to create and it carries enough leverage to pull us forward, these disappointments will not keep us pinned for long.

That is the key.

When something does not go the way we intended or hoped then one place to go, is creating a bigger and more inspiring vision.

Do you clearly see your 'Why?'

Is it strong enough and carry enough charge to keep you playing for your ultimate end result?

Do you have a clear vision of what your intended end result looks like?

Is it measurable? How will you feel when that is accomplished?

Imagine being at 'the end' of what you are trying to accomplish. What does the celebration look like?

Is this a crystal, clear picture you carry with you each day that you are in action on fulfilling this goal?

If your dream is big enough and is clear in your mind then you will not easily be stopped by minor setbacks.

With regard to actions that you have recently taken, are you clear about what worked/didn't work about each of these?

Have you sought advice from somebody already hugely successful in the area of your goal?

Go back to the drawing board. Recreate the original goal.

Get it pictured clearly in your mind such that you cannot mistake what is on the right track toward fulfilling it.

Is your goal something about which you are passionate? What is it about this goal that truly lights you up? Is this something you "should" do rather than something you MUST accomplish in order to be satisfied?

What challenges are you likely to meet and what strategies do you have in place for overcoming possible setbacks?

Can you still move toward your end goal and yet take out elements you do not love and include some new ones that you do?

A couple of great web sites to visit are http://www.successmethods.org/ and http://www.despair.com/ The second website has a collection that you can browse, it's a fun one and will take the seriousness out of your views on failure and disappointment. You are not alone!

Feelings come and go - many times during the day - have you noticed? Consistent action, beyond those feelings, WILL get you there in the end.

Vaastu does consider earthquakes, tornadoes and other natural calamities when it speaks of ways and means of construction. Soil evaluation before construction begins is very important. Soil suitability and strength received is of prime importance. The foundation of a building is much more than a combination of bricks, mortar, concrete, steel etc. Laying a foundation is a symbolic homage to Mother Earth and every possible care to strengthen it is considered.

The depth of a foundation is particularly important. Ancient treaties on Vastu Shastra have conventionally advised a foundation that is equal to a man's stature plus his length of hand. Today's engineers tells us that six to seven feet of foundation it essential for a normal height building to be solid and safe. Our sages also highlighted of the base being as high as the foundation.

The requirement to vibe with Nature by using construction materials like bricks stones and wood was given great importance too. Wood is the basic material not only for doors, windows and cabinets but also for composition. In fact it is usually known in engineering that wood absorbs shock evenly and a house built of wood is unlikely to collapse. Wood and steel are said to be spongy and less prone to seismic are said disturbance. Segregating buildings also takes into consideration the gigantic destructive power of earthquake tremors. An area is usually divided into four concentric zones. The Brahama, Daiva, Manushya and the fourth zone is Paisacha. Vaastu treatises very clearly identify construction only in the Daiva and Manushya zone and have totally rejects construction in the Paisacha zone. To compound so that it does not touch the neighbor's wall. Modern engineering tells us that neighboring buildings should be separated each other and consequent collapse in case of seismic disturbances!

A rain gauge is a very simple yet useful weather instrument. A conventional rain gauge essentially consists of three parts: a thin, long, cylindrical tube, an outer container that houses that tube, and a funnel set atop that cylinder and container housing.

When it rains, it pours -- into the rain gauge that is.

When rain falls, it goes through the funnel that is on top. The rain water collects into the inner cylindrical tube we just talked about. That tube is marked with lines providing measurements in millimeters.

Let's say the rain gauge we are using collects 25 millimeters of rain water. When and if that cylinder overflows, it will overflow into the outer container we just talked about above. After a set period of time -- let's call it 24 hours for this example, the final measurement will be taken.

When the final rainfall measurement is taken, the cylinder will tell you how much rainfall we just had, due to the millimeter markings on it. Now, we will take another empty cylinder, and pour the water from the outer container into that cylinder.

Next, we will add the measurements from both cylinders, and that is how we get our final rainfall number. If there was a lot of rain, the millimeters may be converted to inches or centimeters -- depending on which part of the globe you live in.

That is how your basic rain gauge works. There are other types of rain gauges out there, such as wireless rain gauges, that may employ methods that are a bit more high-tech in nature. The methods may be a bit different from each other -- but they all accomplish the same goal in the end.

God bless the genius who invented the rain gauge -- since it gives us such useful information that we would otherwise be deprived of.

The above is just a bit of information. Head over to our website How Does A Rain Gauge Work to get a complete look at how rain gauges work, wireless rain gauges (yes they have those), and find out how you can use decorative rain gauges to accent the outdoor space at your home, and maybe even indoors.

Volcom Ladies Socks Plain Plaidness Plum

Ankle sock with all over distressed plaid screenprint pattern and Volcom flag label at outside. Fabrication: 70% cotton/20% spandex/5% nylon/5% rubber.

Freshly awake from the early wake-up call from the hotel's front desk, I began to get dressed and ready for my morning presentation. Going over the material in my head, I felt more than confident about the upcoming training session. Then, suddenly, my confidence was shattered. Reaching for my socks and shoes, I realized I had accidentally packed one brown and one blue sock.

I was mortified. Surely everyone in the audience would think I looked like a clown. I searched my mind for the right excuse to explain my mistake, but, sadly, couldn't think of a single good one. I crossed my fingers and hoped the audience simply wouldn't notice.

When I arrived at the training and introduced myself to the audience, I suddenly felt an overwhelming need to admit that I was wearing mismatched socks. I lifted my pant legs, baring the unsightly duo to my audience. I wasn't sure if their laughter was from my mistake or the fact that I had felt so compelled to admit it upfront.

Long after the morning's session was complete, I found myself wondering if anyone would have noticed my socks had I not pointed them out. After all, my pants stretched way beyond my ankles. If I had simply ignored the small detail, perhaps I could have gotten away with it. However, I felt as if I had to tell the audience about my socks, as if they were waiting for me to bring it up. Spilling the truth immediately gave me a strange sense of relief.

In business, we fall victim to this mentality every day, even though we may not realize it. When someone makes a simple inquiry about our products or services, we feel compelled to bring up price, quantity discounts, or our company's policies on minimum orders. The customer doesn't bring it up, we do. We call attention to the one thing we hate to talk about the most price.

As a customer, there have been too many times that my buying experience has been steered by price. Without any indication that I was trying to save money, I have been led to the clearance items. I have had salespeople worrying about whether or not I would take advantage of their current special offer. I have called a business and been quickly informed that there is a minimum order requirement, although I hadn't intended on making a small order.

These instances leave me puzzled. Even more puzzling is that these same salespeople are the ones who think their customers are obsessed with price and discounts, when, in reality, they are being steered that way. Customers are simply looking to fill a need. That need is the focus and purpose of their decision to buy, and if salespeople would remain quiet and let the customer talk about what matters to them, they would clearly understand what motivates them to buy.

Instead, salespeople throw down the rudder and steer the conversation straight into the choppy waters they would rather avoid. There's no easy answer as to why they do this, but perhaps it is for the same reason I felt compelled to admit to my audience that my socks did not match. I thought it was what my audience was thinking about and wanted me to talk about, when really they were thinking of something much more important my message.

There are certainly times when price is relevant, or when a special deal on a product is worth mentioning. However, let these topics come up naturally. Customers are not obsessed with price. It is the salesperson who is insecure about price that forces it onto their customers, bringing unneeded attention to an overrated issue. Stop looking down at your mismatched socks and start looking up at what really matters. If your customers aren't worried about price, why are you?

Fallen Mens Socks Trademark White

One pair of crew socks with woven logos.

We live in a society where people try to take more than they give. This is always a design for failure. Taking more than one gives back will always create a mindset of lack, and create a life that reflects those circumstances. We all naturally know that the more we give, the more we get. Since we all know this, it makes me wonder why more people don't give more. The law of attraction is no different. The more you give, the more you get. The universe naturally lines things up to give you more in return than you give. It's ironic how this works. The more you take, the more that is taken from you. The more you give, the more you get.

So the key here is to learn to give in as many ways as you possibly can, and in the areas that you want more. Learning to position your life, your mind, and your spirit in a place of abundance and giving will create amazing results in terms of a return on investment. If you want more money, start giving your money to people who need it. Start spending your money with the mindset and belief that you will get more money in return. For every dollar you spend, keep a gentle smile on your face in confident knowing that you will get two dollars in return. Where it will come from may be unknown, but knowing that it will come is the key, and truly believing that it will come because you gave is also the trick. The same is true for love, time, energy, knowledge, and anything else that you can possibly want.

The problem here is that many people give with the expectation that they will get. This is not at all the mindset you want to come from. You cannot give with a mindset of demanding you get something in return. Expecting the universe to give back because you gave is a mindset of lack. It is a mindset of neediness. The emotional driver behind it is all wrong for living and creating a life of abundance and wealth. This is not to say that you shouldn't expect something in return, because you should. You are giving because you want something in return. Nothing is ever done from a completely altruistic stand point. What I am talking about here is a selfish point of view that you will only give because you will get something in return. This is the same as giving someone a gift for Christmas because you expect them to give you a gift in return.

You must learn to give because it feels right and good to you. You know that it is the right thing to do because you understand that the universe rewards people for good, positive, true actions and feelings. You must give from a place of compassion and caring. A place deep inside you that gives because you want to make a difference and you understand what true value is. You give up money each month for your mortgage or rent because you have given the value of money in return for the value of shelter and warmth. Buying a soda or gas is no different. You want something of value in return for your investment, but with the proper mindset, that return can be huge, if you understand that connection.

By understanding that when you buy gas, you not only get fuel for your vehicle that will allow you to travel and do what you want and need to do, but you also help lots of other people. You give the clerk at the gas station a pay check. You help support the people and their families that drive the delivery trucks. You help with the paychecks for all the people who refine the oil into fuel. You support the sailors and shipping companies that bring the oil over in boats. You support the people in the countries that the oil comes from and their families. By coming at your daily needs and the spending of any resource like this, and understanding how that little energy reaches out into the world, you begin to realize your over all connection to everything and that everything you do, especially from a stand point of giving and heart full of giving, has to come back to you. The energy of giving will attract the thing that you give back to you ten fold. So practice giving things from this mindset, and prepare to be amazed at the magic that begins to happen on a regular basis.
